Who is Cynthia Bailey?

After watching all 12 seasons of The Real Housewives of New York, Vincent and I started watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Quickly, we realized why this series is the highest performing and most expensive part of the franchise. And immediately, I started identifying the strong female leads (NeNe Leakes, Sheree Whitfield, Kim) Zolciak and the worst kind of role model for women (Cynthia Bailey).

  • Cynthia Bailey Age: 53

  • Cynthia Bailey Net Worth: $500,000

  • Cynthia Bailey Husband: Peter Thomas

  • Profession: Former Model

From the first time that Cynthia appears on the show, we get to see that Cynthia is the type of women that follows in NeNe’s shadow, like a puppet. It’s not surprising to me to see this since NeNe has that effect on a lot of women, but when you watch the show, Cynthia’s spineless behavior will make you want to throw up.

Repulsive

There are three broad categories of her atrocious personality on the show that really make you realize what a lame person she would be in real life.

The way she disrespects her sister for her husband.

Her sister, Malorie Bailey, is turned into a villain on the show when Cynthia gets married because Cynthia sides with her husband, who regularly talks down to her sister and makes jokes at her sister’s expense. It’s later exasperated when Cynthia continues to give her husband money, despite his poor business ventures. The irony? Cynthia and Peter Thomas end up getting divorced, showing the world that you’ll learn to regret the way you prioritize shitty men ahead of your family. Luckily, Malorie appears to be constantly in Cynthia’s corner so their relationship will likely rebound, but the way that the world will get to witness Cynthia’s disgusting behavior towards her own flesh and blood will be there forever.

The way that she alters her opinion when NeNe is present.

Throughout her time on the show, you get to see these moments where Cynthia seems like a decent, interesting person when she’s not being tugged on a leash by NeNe. However, there are pockets and moments where you see how her disgusting personality rears its ugly head and she instigates drama among the women so she can get the satisfaction of being in NeNe’s good graces. This is evident a couple of times when 1) the women go to Africa and Cynthia shares a specific opinion about NeNe’s friend Marlo but then in front of NeNe, she acts as if she never said it and 2) when she runs to NeNe and Marlo after kissing Sheree’s ass to get invited to Sheree’s dinner party. I must admit, it’s really embarrassing for pretty girls across the board because of her model persona. Not all models are that two-faced and pathetic!

The way that she acts outside of her means.

While she generally talks about her life as if it is as fabulous as she thinks in her head, it’s very clear that between Cynthia and her former husband that things are definitely not as they appear. Her net worth is a total of $500,000, despite her high-grossing salary from being on the show. During the show you see that Peter and her spend lots of money on events (their wedding, their 1-yr wedding anniversary) just to keep up appearances so that people think that they have a lot of money — or at least enough to spend a million dollars on a single event. What’s likely happening is that when you look at her salary from the show you don’t realize it needs to compensate for her insane spending habits, which leads to a shockingly low net worth quoted by CelebrityNetWorth.

Redemption

When we started watching Season 5, we were introduced to the newest woman to the show: Kenya Moore. I have yet to see how this unfolds but I cannot wait to watch how the battle of the former models go. If I were Cynthia, I’d be bracing myself because Kenya looks like she could knock her out and drag her. So far, Cynthia seems to get some untapped courage as she acts big and bag in front of Kenya, but I’m waiting for the knockout moment. #teamKenya
